Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is very important for students and our community. Many majors require hours and summer is a great time to get those hours started. The Center for Civic Engagement can help!

MOUNTAINEERS RECYCLE
Mountaineers Recycle is WE CAN’s athletic events recycling program in which WVU has partnered with the WV Department of Environmental Protection and the Mon.County Solid Waste Authority to collect recyclables at home football games. During the 2007 football season, over 176,000 bottles and cans were diverted from the waste stream, and $3,000 was raised for the WVU Children’s Hospital.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2008 SEASON
- Volunteers meet 4 hours prior to start of game and finish right before kick-off.
- Each volunteer receives a free t-shirt for participation.
- This is an excellent way to experience the football atmosphere without attending
the game. - You do not touch trash or collect items. Volunteers pass out recycling bags throughout the parking lots. It’s as simple as that.
