Robin Jones Robin Jones, Associate Dean of Students for the First-Year Experience

Robin Jones has been a faculty member in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at WVU since 1975. Robin also worked as the coordinator of the WVU Hearing Center until 1999. In 1999, she became the Resident Faculty Leader for Arnold Hall and Apartments. Robin has worked as the Associate Dean of Students for Residential Education and is currently the Associate Dean of Students for the First-Year Experience. In this position, she works with the First-Year Experience central office staff, as well as an extended team of professionals to better serve first-year students.

Rhonda Hall

Rhonda Hall, Program Specialist

Rhonda Hall is the Program Specialist for the First-Year Experience. She received her BS from West Virginia University in 1999 in Psychology and her MA in Educational Leadership in 2006. Since 1993, she has worked within the Residence Hall system coordinating various programs and support for first-year students. She coordinates University 101, a required course for all first year students and transfer students with less than 29 credit hours, as well as the Academic Resource Centers. She collaborates with various units to coordinate an academic probation program, Welcome Week, a lecture series and various other retention efforts.

Kathy Mayer

Kathy Mayer, Senior Administrative Secretary

Kathy Mayer is the Senior Administrative Secretary for the First-Year Experience. Prior to joining FYE, Kathy was the front desk secretary at Arnold Hall; therefore, she has gained a vast working knowledge of the needs of first-year students. Kathy is a vital asset to the First-Year Experience because of her organizational skills and her passion for meeting the needs of first-year students. In her spare time, Kathy enjoys cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Keisha Kibler, Lecturer

Keisha Hopkins Kibler graduated from WVU with her MA in Secondary Education and her BA in English in 2003. Currently, she teaches English and reading in Preston County, WV. Keisha began her work with FYE in the Spring 2006 as an instructor for Orientation 293F, “Learning Strategies.” She also assists with planning activities and grading rubrics for other courses offered through FYE including University 101 and Orientation 293B. Also, Keisha works on the Leadership Team for the National Writing Project at WVU, a division of the English department. During the summer, she assists with University 101 instructor training and Orientation 293B student assistant training. During her free time, Keisha loves to read, shop, and spend time with her family and friends. Also, she enjoys assisting with the student and RA programming at Dadisman and Stalnaker Halls at WVU. In the future, Keisha will continue her education to earn an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction.

Diana Daugerty

Diana Daugherty, Administrative Graduate Assistant

Diana is the Graduate Administrative Assistant in the First-Year Experience main office. Her primary job responsibility is to coordinate the Academic Resource Centers across campus. She also assists in various projects and activities organized through the office of the First-Year Experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from West Virginia University and is presently working toward her Doctorate in Audiology. Upon completion of her doctoral degree, Diana hopes to work with clients in need of amplification and those with vestibular function problems.

Logan Wheatcraft

Logan Wheatcraft, Web Developer/Student Administrative Assistant

Logan is the web developer and student administrative assistant for the First-Year Experience. Along with designing the office’s web site, he helps coordinate University 101 and assists the office staff with any other assignments. Logan is a Management Information Systems major who enjoys camping, scuba diving, snow skiing, flying, and four-wheeling in his spare time.

Ryan Connor

Ryan Connor, FYE GA for Dadisman/Stalnaker and Summit

Ryan Connor completed his undergraduate degree in 2005 with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Management. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum Development. If Ryan is not on campus, you can usually find him on his bike, the Rec Center, or in any of the coffee shops in town.

Casie Coughlin

Casie Coughlin, FYE GA for Fieldcrest/Pierpont

Casie is currently a third-year law student, with high aspirations of becoming a master at civil litigation. Casie received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from WVU in 2005. Currently, Casie is involved in Student Government and serves as a Class of 2008 officer at the law school. In her spare time, Casie likes to attend Mountaineer football games and spend time with friends and family. Along with teaching University 101, Casie is involved in various retention initiatives, as well as academic counseling. Most importantly, Casie enjoys interacting with the students and helping them thrive at WVU.

Gina Groves, FYE GA for Arnold/Boreman

Gina Groves is pursuing a doctoral degree in audiology. She received her B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from WVU. Gina also gained a certificate in gerontology. After completing graduate school, she intends to move south and possibly work in the hospital setting as an audiologist. When she is not hitting the books, Gina loves to spend time with her family, shop, and work out. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to

Rhea Lafferty

Rhea Lafferty, FYE GA for Brooke/Braxton

Rhea is a graduate student in Speech Pathology. She earned her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from WVU as well. She has minors in gerontology and communications. Rhea enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family. She plans to graduate in May of 2008.

Desiree Phillips, FYE GA for Lyon/Bennett

Desiree Phillips is a first-year graduate student in the Speech-Language
Pathology program here at WVU, where she also received her undergraduate in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in communications. Her interests include board games and daytime television. She hopes to work as an SLP in a rehabilitation setting.
